Aerial surveying is most needed for mapping urban areas because of the need for frequent updating of maps, especially those of large cities. This is due to the growth of city infrastructure, extensive urban development on lots that are often situated between existing buildings, high demand for building sites, the high cost of city land, the need for prompt responses to unauthorized land usurpation, etc. Only large-scale aerial surveying makes it possible to update 1:100 to 1:500 scale cartography materials. The results of aerial surveying (updated street maps and cartography material) are used in making administrative decisions that contribute to the stable, economically sound, and comprehensive development of an urban area.

Mapping results are used by different enterprises for:

  • Improving and developing urban architecture plan structures.
  • Developing new residential areas and rebuilding existing ones.
  • Structuring industrial development and relocating industrial facilities out of residential and green areas to newly formed industrial and warehouse zones and suburbs.
  • Developing systems of urban green areas, expanding and improving existing parks, and developing new ones.
  • Creating and developing networks of recreation zones, resort areas, tourism, and nature reserves.
  • Reconstructing and building roads, multi-level intersections, over- and underpasses, bus terminals, and inter-city bus stations.
  • Developing urban traffic arteries - including speedways, clearways, and regulated traffic roads - on the basis of the existing street network.

Aerogeoinformatics has carried out aerial surveys of the following Ukrainian cities and towns: Kharkiv, Poltava, Melitopol, Brovary, Pavlograd, Chuguyev, and others.

In the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Aerogeoinformatics performed aerial surveys and created topographic maps of all its towns. Mapping results were used to create general urban development plans, design seaports and airports, and develop engineering documentation for laying roads through the jungle
